The client’s brief called for a 3 storey luxury residence at the top of Camps Bay, overlooking the Camps Bay beach. The primary materials requested were off-shutter concrete, glass and timber to help in the contemporary aesthetic. The west facing aspect of the design faced many challenges from the harsh setting sun and extreme wind speeds and called for a retractable roof system over the outdoor entertainment and pool area. The building was designed to maximise the vista from signal hill across to the Twelve Apostles.
