




TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT CENTRE for the CITY of CAPE TOWN

This unique multi- use transportation coordination hub combined 7 difference entities within the City of Cape Town, to enhance various facets of the transportation and the optimization of response times for traffic emergencies to long term road planning. The FMS [freeway management system] and the BTR [myCity bus system] were integrated into this unique building programme. a long term master plan was drawn up and approved by the City. Extensive consultation with various role players and interested parties were done before a series of design workshops were concluded. The phase 1 of this building had to be completed by January 2010 as part of the Soccer World Cup. Three more phases were rolled over the next eight years including a data center extension component. The final phase included amongst others the new municipal traffic court and a parkade for the precinct. Final completion was achieved in 2018. This unique multi-role Civic building enhances service delivery on a transportation level that contributes to the improvement of the the City of Cape Town’s ability to accomodate the AI opportunities of the 21 century for all its inhabitants.
