The data centre was designed on an N+1, 1600w/sqm cooling capacity specification. This state of the art telecom data centre was completed for Telkom SA in 2011 and was strictly built according to the TIA 942 Standard. The data centre conforms to the minimum ‘Tier 4′ classification standard as well. The building consists of 600 server racks and is supported by 4 rotary UPS’s and 2 standby generators. This in turn is supported by 84 000 litre diesel tanks that allow for a 72 hour standby time. The data centre also has a 24/7 video control room that allows for continuous data and support.

The project was a finalist for Cisco Systems’ Most Innovative Design for a Data Centre in 2010 and won the Frost and Sullivan Green Excellence in Technology Innovation Award in 2011.
