The  original Herzog Boulevard’s Two Towers was built in 1972 on the Cape Town Foreshore. In 2010 the owner, Redefine Properties called for the refurbishment and upgrade of these prominent two buildings, and to bring the parking requirement for the offices in line with the council’s parking ratios.    The landmark “two towers precinct”, consisting of 24 floors  and 14 floors  respectively are located on Heerengracht boulevard and is opposite the Artscape Opera complex and the City of Cape Towns’ municipal offices.

JLB architects was appointed in 2012 as Standard Bank’s architects, for the 14 storey ‘small tower’ and along with Smuts and Boyes, for the parkade upgrade and Boogertman + Partners for the façade upgrade.  JLB architects was responsible for the optimization and refurbishment of the Small tower  for SBSA.  The integration of the the two buildings’ lobbies with the the retail component, Food lovers market was a challenge during construction but the open Plaza area has improved the this urban node in the City of Cape Town, and is hugely popular with the people working in this area.
